Sun City West

Five Cities One Chamber

About Unincorporated Areas

There are several areas that make up the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce service area that really aren't part of any incorporated city or town. People might receive their mail at an address that says "Sun City" or "Sun City West" because those post offices service those areas, but they really don't live in those cities. They live in county islands. County islands are created when a city or town annexes land into their corporate boundaries but excludes certain areas. Those excluded areas are under Maricopa County jurisdiction. As such, they do not have the usual municipal government structure. Maricopa County provides street maintenance, building and zoning codes, law enforcement and public health services.

The Property Owners and Residents Association (PORA).

The mission of the Property Owners and Residents Association (PORA) of Sun City West is to provide leadership and organization as the advocate for the residents of Sun City West with all levels of local cities, Maricopa County and the state of Arizona.
